My Gnome On The Roam Toy Packaging

When Anne from My Gnome on the Roam contacted me about her new packaging project I hadn't done much package design, but I loved experimenting with it in college and had been itching to do more. I'm particularly interested in complicated 3D constructions, so when she explained that she needed a complex build I was excited to get stuck in. She envisioned a box that could not only serve as the packaging for the adorable little gnome, but could also be used as part of the toy. She wanted the box to transform into a cute little house for the gnome to be kept in, adding to the fun of the toy while also reducing waste. This project was particularly challenging because it had to be constructed from a single sheet of board using no adhesives. Here's what I came up with after lots of playing and cutting and folding. You can purchase it here!

This is how the box opens, transforming it into a tiny gnome home. I apologize for the vertical video! Inexcusable.
